Trial Report
Jerri inspects the start bed and proceeds independently onto the track. Tracking begins at a pleasant pace, proceeding mostly with air scent off to the side of the track. On the first section, the dog comes to check in with the handler and, with encouragement, returns to tracking work. At the corner, the bed is indicated excellently, and the corner is cleared with a small loop.
At the start of the next section, the wind pushes the dog off the track and onto a nearby road. Loss. After the restart, tracking continues in an inquisitive manner with a lot of circling. A tractor off to the side of the track is likely to blame for all the investigating.
At the second corner, the bed is indicated excellently, and Jerri sets out to resolve the corner by casting in circles. The casting ends up on a back-track. Loss. After the restart, the final section is partly right on the track, but at the end off to the side again and past the hide, and the judge stops the trial.
Jerri showed that he knows how to track, but air-scenting played tricks on him today. With more practice, the results will start coming.
