Transition from Wires to Smooths
I have to admit this took me a long time to think over. In my head Wires are the Ultimate show dogs, true Kings of BIS rings. They require absolute perfection from owner/handler/trimmer. You can't really trim a show Wire properly, if you don't have that clear vision of a perfect fox terrier in your brain every single moment and skills to implement that vision through grooming and trimming.
The main reason why I wanted to have a Smooth instead of a Wire was because of my two young boys. Smooths are a bit softer and therefore a bit easier with children when compared to Wires. Also, I wanted to enjoy dog shows without the exhausting effort put in to the trimming.
